Honestly, the thought of NU’EST going to the military scares me. I know I shouldn’t worry about this for about 10 more years, but I just get so sick when I think about it. Hopefully the mandatory military service law will be revoked within the next ten years so NU’EST and other young idols (Like Zelo and Jungkook) won’t have to go.

I honestly do not think that the person behind the confession was trying to be selfish, and I don’t think she was trying to attack a culture. A few years ago, my country had a similar military service for men, it was something they had to do compulsory, the difference is that they could not wait to be ready to do it. I mean, they all had to do it once they were of legal age (18 in my country) unless they asked for permission because they were studying (and they did the military service when they finished) OR if they had some kind of disability. To be honest, we couldn’t be more glad that the compulsory military service stopped. Not only because they had to do it when they were still teenagers but also because that meant that our country was “safe”. I don’t think the girl meant to attack their pride, but I don’t think it’s necessary to do a military service to become a real man, and I’m saying this because I know that boys in my country had to do it. My father had to do it when he was 19. I don’t remember what I thought about this when I was little, but now I’m 21, and I’ve had the same opinion for years: I’m glad that it stopped years ago. However, I do not think that doing the military service is bad or sad, I think it’s sad that they have to do it because their country is in danger. It makes me sad that they are threatened by N. Korea.

I don’t think you’re attacking her or my opinion, don’t worry ^^. My father told me little stories about those years in the military service, but he has never said that it was a special experience or a life-changin experience. Maybe because the system here and other countries are different. For example, I bet the military service in S. Korea is much more harsh and life-changing because they have their obvious reasons to train them to be prepared. It depends on the situation of the country. Of course I agree with you, it’s almost impossible to stop the military service and I think it’s a good idea to maintain it because of the situation of the country. I also cannot help but having a “motherly” point of view towards NU’EST because they’re still really young, but I bet my perspective will change when they’re older and prepared, because it’s something they have to do.
